San Mateo County in California was awarded their Charging Smart Gold designation in 2025.
San Mateo County is promoting Electric Vehicles (EVs) to meet goals of 18% adoption by 2030 and 100% by 2040. Over 57,000 zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) were registered in the county in 2023. Incentives include up to $12,000 for income-qualified residents through the Clean Cars for All program, with used EV rebates also available.
